The $19 million renovation of the University of Mary Washington’s historic Willard Hall modernized the 45,000-square-foot residence hall while preserving the architectural character of the university’s oldest residential building. The project transformed the facility for contemporary student life with updated residential spaces, study and collaboration areas, lounges, a media room, seminar room, and shared kitchen.

The comprehensive renovation included complete replacement of MEP systems, extensive hazardous materials abatement, upgraded technology infrastructure, and significant accessibility improvements, including the addition of an elevator. Modern building systems and amenities were carefully integrated within the existing historic structure while retaining original features such as hardwood floors and traditional architectural detailing.
